Roku Is Launching Its Own Ad Supported Movie Channel
Roku entered into the world of programming with the launch of its own free movie channel which is known as the Roku Channel. The Roku channel will be available in the US on all the Roku players, TVs and sticks to give the most seamless experience to its customers. It let its thousands of users to stream their favorite movies and TV shows that will be updated every month. Roku has movies from the licensing deals from top studios like Sony picture entertainment, Lionsgate, Paramount, MGM and Warner Brothers and also some of the movies from the existing channels like FilmRise, OVGuide, Vidmark, YuYu and American classics. It includes various movies like Ali, The Karate Kid and many more. Just Like Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple Tv, Roku also offers an access to all the streaming services. So, you will be able to browse through the list of Hollywood movies and can watch it without any additional cost as the content is supported by ads but it also promises that it has half the number of advertisements as compared to the traditional television channels. The ads are being sold against the content by the Roku’s sales and in-house ad sales team. Roku even told that they are unable to monetize some of its most watched channels. The company understands that ads between the content can be frustrating, to change that the ads will be smartly placed in between the content.
Each of the Roku's competitors, push its streaming services like Google with Google Play Movies, Amazon with Amazon Video and Prime videos. Previously, “Roku Recommends” and “4K Spotlight” has been launched for the video content. However, the Roku’s movie channel has been particularly launched to give access to its customers to a collection of top movies and TV shows. The purpose of the launch of Roku movie channel was to grow its users and ad business which now make up for 41 percent of its revenue. The content available on the movie channel has the organized format. You can easily browse the titles of the movies or the shows written in a row, the featured titles are at the top and rest are written below it which are categorized by genre. The channel has been rolled out now ad will be available to the users in the coming weeks.
